KUCCPS Explains Subject Requirements for University Courses Ahead of 2026 Placement

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has published detailed requirements on the subjects that need to be taken by students to be eligible for various courses in various universities as the 2026 placement process approaches.

The new guide has outlined the various combinations of subjects that need to be taken by interested students to be eligible to join various courses in the country’s various universities. The new system has grouped courses under various clusters to enable interested students to easily understand the requirements for various courses depending on the career path they wish to pursue.

According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome, various courses in various universities require combinations of various subjects to enable interested students to pursue various courses in the country’s various universities.

According to the new requirements published by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service, courses in various engineering courses require high grades in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For instance, engineering courses require at least a C+ in Mathematics and Physics.

On the other hand, courses in medicine require high grades in Biology and Chemistry. Other courses such as Business require combinations of various subjects such as Geography, History, Economics, and Religious Studies.

The requirements for courses in Mathematics and Physics are crucial in various courses in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Statistics. Basic knowledge of computers is an added advantage in various courses in Information Technology.

On the other hand, courses in education require combinations of various subjects depending on the course that an interested student wishes to specialize in.
