Democratic Party (DP) National Chairman Esau Kioni has dismissed allegations that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is seeking to purchase the party as a political vehicle for the 2027 elections.
Speaking during interview , Kioni clarified that neither Gachagua nor his associates have approached the Democratic Party’s leadership with such intentions.
However, he extended an open invitation to the former deputy president to join the party if he wishes.
“If Gachagua wishes to join the Democratic Party, he is welcome. He can come in as a member and later contest for any position. We will support him to continue Kibaki’s legacy,” Kioni said.
The party chairman emphasized that the Democratic Party remains open to all prospective members as it seeks to grow its influence across the country.
“Currently, he is the Moses of the region, and people believe that he will deliver them from bad governance,” Kioni added.
