The government of Uganda has welcomed Kithure Kindiki to Kampala, where he is representing William Ruto at the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Yoweri Museveni.

In a statement, State House Uganda said Kindiki’s presence at the ceremony reflects the strong diplomatic and historical ties between Kenya and Uganda.

“Kenya and Uganda remain close neighbours and strategic partners, bound by the East African Community, strong trade links, shared infrastructure interests, regional security cooperation, and the daily movement of people across our borders. His presence in Kampala reaffirms the deep friendship between our two countries and our shared commitment to a more connected, stable, and prosperous East Africa,”Statement from Uganda State House read.

Uganda noted that the two countries continue to maintain close cooperation through the East African Community, trade partnerships, regional security collaboration and shared infrastructure projects.

The statement further highlighted the importance of the daily movement of people and goods across the Kenya-Uganda border in strengthening economic and social relations between the neighbouring states.

According to Ugandan authorities, Kenya’s representation at the event reaffirms the two countries’ shared commitment to promoting regional integration, stability and prosperity within the East African region.
