Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured leaders from the Coast region of the government’s renewed commitment to fast-track stalled development projects aimed at boosting inclusive economic growth.

Speaking after a high-level meeting with over 30 Members of Parliament from Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Lamu and Tana River counties, Kindiki emphasized that the government is accelerating road upgrades, electricity connectivity, and infrastructure supporting the blue economy.

“The Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to delivering on its promise of equitable development across all regions. The Coast is a critical region in our national agenda,” Kindiki said.

The meeting, held at the Deputy President’s office, was part of ongoing efforts to monitor and evaluate key government projects and to address implementation challenges that have slowed progress in the region.

The MPs raised concerns about delays in infrastructure delivery, electricity access in rural areas, and underfunding of critical sectors such as fisheries and marine transport.

In response, Kindiki promised closer coordination between the national government, local leaders, and relevant agencies to ensure timely delivery of development milestones.

This comes as the government intensifies its focus on the coastal counties, which have long been flagged for underdevelopment despite their strategic economic potential.
