Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday chaired his first meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Governance, Social Sector, and Public Administration.
Held at the official Deputy President’s Residence in Karen, Nairobi, the meeting focused on key governance, social, and public administration reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency and service delivery across multiple sectors.
The agenda covered a range of issues, including educational reforms, regional development, youth empowerment, and water and sanitation initiatives.
The committee discussed integrating economic planning and social protection policies to address poverty and ensure equitable resource distribution.
Each ministry outlined plans to support these objectives, with an emphasis on sustainable programs and cross-sector collaboration.

Kindiki emphasized the committee’s role in streamlining governance structures, enhancing public administration, and ensuring effective delivery of services.
He stated that these reforms are critical to achieving the administration’s vision of a responsive, inclusive government that prioritizes the needs of all Kenyans.
Those in attendance included Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi (National Treasury and Economic Planning), Julius Migos Ogamba (Education), Eric Muriithi Mugaa (Water, Irrigation, and Sanitation), Beatrice Askul Moe (East African Community, ASALs and Regional Development), and Kipchumba Murkomen (Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports).
Also present were Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife), Soipan Tuya (Defence), Dr. Alfred Mutua (Labour and Social Protection), Dr. Debra Barasa (Health), Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, and Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau.
