Kiambu Elites were crowned champions of the third edition of the Dela Sports Foundation Legendary Tournament following a spirited 3-1 victory over Ujuzi FC in a lively final staged at Delmonte Local Twenty Grounds on Sunday.

The tournament finale, held on Sunday, brought together football fans, former players, and sports enthusiasts for a day defined by high-intensity action, skill, and strong community spirit.

The action kicked off in the morning with a tightly contested semi-final between Ujuzi FC and Pamoja FC. Both sides delivered an impressive display of determination and technical ability in a match that remained deadlocked in regular time. Ujuzi FC eventually held their nerve in the penalty shootout, edging Pamoja FC 6-5 to book their place in the final.

In the second semi-final, Kiambu Elites produced a commanding performance against Destiny FC, asserting their dominance with a convincing 4-1 win. The Elites combined sharp attacking play with solid organization to secure their spot in the championship clash.

The final attracted a sizeable crowd as Ujuzi FC carried momentum from their dramatic semi-final win, while Kiambu Elites entered the match brimming with confidence after their dominant earlier display.

However, Kiambu Elites proved too strong on the day, controlling the tempo of the game and showing clinical finishing in key moments to seal a deserved 3-1 victory and lift the trophy.

Speaking after the final, Dela Sports Foundation founder Patrick Dela praised all participating teams for their discipline, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit, noting that the tournament continues to play a key role in nurturing grassroots football talent and strengthening community ties.

“This tournament is more than just competition. It is about giving young players a platform to showcase their talent, build discipline, and grow through sport. We are proud of every team that participated and the spirit they have shown throughout the competition,” said Patrick Dela.

He emphasized that the initiative is aimed at creating opportunities for young players while using sport as a tool for unity, discipline, and social development across the region.

Fans in attendance lauded the high level of competition throughout the tournament and expressed optimism that future editions will continue to grow in stature and attract more teams and supporters.

The successful conclusion of the third edition marks another milestone for the Dela Sports Foundation, reinforcing its commitment to developing grassroots football and promoting community engagement through sport across the region.
