Kenya has welcomed home the second group of police officers who had been deployed to Haiti under the Multinational Security Support Mission, marking another milestone in the country’s role in international peace efforts.
Interior Principal Secretary Fred Omollo led the homecoming ceremony, commending the officers for their dedication and professionalism while serving in a challenging and unfamiliar environment.
The officers had been working alongside the Haitian National Police in efforts to restore order in a country that has faced prolonged insecurity and violence.
Omollo noted that despite the risks and difficult conditions, the Kenyan officers carried out their duties with discipline and courage, representing the country with distinction.
The event also took a solemn turn as the nation honoured three officers who lost their lives during the mission. Their sacrifice, he said, will not be forgotten, as the government continues to stand with their families.
Even as this phase of the mission comes to an end, Kenya has reiterated its commitment to supporting Haiti and working with international partners to promote lasting peace and stability.
The returning officers received a warm welcome, with their service and sacrifice widely recognised as a source of national pride.
