The Kenya Simbas successfully retained their Elgon Cup title with a commanding 21-5 victory over Uganda in the thrilling second leg at Kings Park Bweyogerere on Saturday.
The match got off to an electrifying start as Ephraim Oduor powered over the line for the first try following a clinical pick-and-drive move.
Timothy Omela added the conversion, giving the Simbas an early 7-0 lead.
Vice-captain Eugine Sifuna extended Kenya’s advantage with a second try, and Omela’s precise boot made it 14-0.
The Simbas were dominant throughout, with another well-executed converted try midway through the first half pushing the score to a commanding 21-0 at the break.
Uganda fought back late in the game, scoring a try in the dying minutes, but it was too little, too late.
The final score was 21-5 in favor of the Simbas, securing their victory in the second leg.
Having narrowly won the first leg 27-25 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya claimed the 2024 Elgon Cup with an overall aggregate score of 48-30.
