Kenya Railways Corporation has warned job seekers against a fake recruitment advert circulating on social media, cautioning the public against sharing personal information or applying through unofficial channels.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, October 21, the corporation said it had not issued the advert, which claims to offer hundreds of job opportunities across different departments.

The advert, titled Job Opportunity 2026, lists positions including sales and marketing manager, passenger services manager, data entry clerk, driver, office assistant and mechanical technician.

Some of the positions reportedly have more than 70 vacancies, a claim that has attracted attention from people looking for employment.

“We would like to warn the public that there is a fraudulent job offer circulating in the social media space.”

The organization advised those applying for jobs to verify the authenticity of the job offers through the company’s official website instead of following up on the job offers posted on other unconfirmed platforms.

Warning from Kenya Railways

This warning comes after earlier warnings from the organization after it became evident that fraudsters used the name of the company to dupe members of the public.

In July, Kenya Railways issued a warning to the public concerning fake websites and people who were selling tickets of Madaraka Express.

Some customers were reportedly misled into paying through unofficial channels while trying to book train services.

The company has also in the past complained about the existence of job scams in the internet space where some individuals can end up losing their money or having their personal information scammed by fraudsters.

Kenya Railways Corporation stated that they were cooperating with the security agencies in efforts to investigate the fraudulent ticket-selling schemes and who the impersonators were.

Job applicants have been urged to confirm whether there are job openings on the corporation’s website.
