Kenya is set to strengthen its defence partnership with Morocco following an official visit by Chief of the Defence Forces Charles Kahariri to the North African nation.
General Kahariri’s visit, made at the invitation of Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, began with a ceremonial wreath-laying at the Mausoleum of Mohammed V in Rabat, marking a symbolic start to the high-level engagement.
During bilateral talks, the two military leaders focused on enhancing cooperation between the Kenya Defence Forces and the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, with both sides underscoring the urgency of finalising a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA).
General Kahariri reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to participating in Exercise African Lion, a multinational military drill aimed at enhancing operational readiness, improving force integration, and strengthening trust among partner nations.
He is also expected to tour key military institutions, including the Royal Navy and Air Force Headquarters, as well as top training institutions such as the Royal Military Academy in Meknes and the Royal College of Higher Military Education in Kenitra.
