Kenya Kwanza leaders have backed DP Kithure Kindiki to succeed President William Ruto in the 2032 General Election.

While addressing an Economic Empowerment Engagement forum in Maara Constituency, Tharaka Nithi County, Kimani Ichung’wah, Majority Leader in the National Assembly, stated that the Deputy President would be the coalition’s preferred candidate once President Ruto finishes his term, if re-elected in 2027.

On the contrary, DP Kindiki was not involved in succession politics. He rather accused the opposition of resorting to divisive political rhetoric which is their usual practice. This is a day after the opposition leaders hinted that the Wiper Party leader would be their flagbearer come 2027.

Kindiki appealed to the leaders of Tharaka Nithi to come together rather than wasting time in unnecessary rivalries which might hamper development of the region.

Moreover, he highlighted some of the government’s major development projects for the county like the construction of Nithi Bridge which has been long awaited at a cost of KSh 8 billion, a project that aims at ending the section’s tragic accident history.

The second on comand also revealed that the government is allocating KSh 1.2 billion for rural electrification and has a plan to build 20 new markets in the county, including the spacious Chogoria Market that he says is already 85 percent complete.

The leaders later joined residents of Narok East Constituency for a resource mobilization drive in support of 23 local churches.
