During high-level talks on the sidelines of the 2026 Korea-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Seoul, South Korea, Kenya and Tunisia not only reaffirmed their good relations but also agreed on further cooperation in sectors both countries consider as their strengths.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi had an engaging discussion with Mohamed Ali Nafti, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, during the Secretariat meeting of the 2026 Korea-Africa Leaders’ Summit.
They discussed Kenya-Tunisia collaboration for mutual benefit. Through the meeting, they recognized the importance of working together not only in education, energy, and technological innovation but also in climate change peace security, and people-to-people exchanges.
“Together with H.E. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, we explored practical pathways to strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships in areas including education, energy, technological innovation, climate change, peace and security, and people-to-people exchanges.” Mudavadi said
They also looked into reaping benefits from their diplomatic relations that have existed for over six decades for expanding trade, investment, and regional cooperation.
According to Mudavadi, Kenya, hopes to use its diplomatic relations to extend its economic influence across the North African region, among other ways of strengthening economic and diplomatic relations within the continent.
The ministers further agreed to accelerate the signing of those legal documents and agreements that pave the way for the deepening of cooperation and partnership based on mutual benefits.
Also, in their talks, they pointed out the importance of cooperating within the system of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and, Because of this, expressed their support for the increase of intra, Africa trade, industrialization, and economic integration.
The dialogue revealed the refreshed will of African countries to upgrade regional cooperation and, through enhanced economic and diplomatic ties, achieve their united development goals.
