Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel joined hands with local stakeholders in a major tree planting exercise at Kodera Forest, Homa Bay County, on May 22, 2025.
The activity comes ahead of this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations and aligns with the Commander-in-Chief’s National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign.
Led by Lt. Col. Daniel Musau, the KDF team planted 10,000 tree seedlings in Oyugis Municipality. They were joined by key regional officials including Mr. Tobias Ouma representing the Governor, Chief Forest Conservator Ms. Sharon Cheluget, and Director of Inspectorate Mr. Walter Were.
The exercise also brought together members of the Homa Bay County Government, County Forest Association, and National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), showcasing a unified effort to enhance environmental sustainability.
The initiative underscores KDF’s growing role in national development and environmental conservation efforts, as the country pushes forward in its mission to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.
