Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly (MCA) Joel Munuve has passed away this morning at AAR Hospital along Kiambu Road.

According to reports, Munuve, who was elected to the Nairobi County Assembly as an independent candidate, began experiencing pain while en route to the city centre.

He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Confirming the news, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Kennedy Ng’ondi described Munuve’s passing as a significant loss to both the Assembly and the county.

“He suddenly collapsed and passed away this morning. He was a dedicated leader and a tireless servant of the people,” Ng’ondi said.

“His relentless commitment to the people of Kariobangi North and to public service will be remembered with deep respect and admiration. We mourn not only a colleague, but a brother whose presence enriched the institution and touched many lives.”

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, who spoke on behalf of the Assembly, also expressed sorrow, describing Munuve as a close friend.

Alai noted that the cause of death was still unclear, and urged the public to allow the family time to grieve.

“From the Assembly, we are giving the family space to come to terms with this loss. We’ll address the circumstances at a later time,” he said.

Munuve was known as one of the most vocal MCAs in the Nairobi County Assembly, frequently raising concerns about governance and transparency.

In one of his most recent public statements, he challenged the formation of a private company contracted to collect garbage, warning of potential corruption and calling it “a scam in the making.”

His death comes as a shock to colleagues and constituents alike, and tributes continue to pour in for a man many viewed as a fierce advocate for accountability and public service.
