Kenyan rapper Kapitani has spoken out after the sudden removal of the viral hit track “Kitemeo” was removed from YouTube following a public dispute with fellow artist Master VK over the song ownership and copyright claims.
Speaking in an interview, Kapitani said he will take responsibility for the controversy as it was part of his growth success.
“Naweza sema hii mambo yote nilijiletea…for daring to be the big artist in Kenya,” Kapitani said.
Kapitani revealed that his management is working on it to have the music video restored on YouTube.
“Management yangu inawakia video ya “Kitemeo” irudi,” he said.
He intends not to fight for reinstatement and not rush the process, assuring his fans he can still access the track on other platforms, though some issues need to be addressed before the song can be returned to YouTube.
The controversy began after Mastar VK accused Kapitani of copyright infringement, claiming they had recorded “Kitemeo” together alongside another artist.
He has assured his supporters everything will be right and he will continue to produce more music, as some of his songs are yet to be released. He hinted at upcoming collaborations that will keep his momentum alive.
