Kanyenyaini Ward MCA Grace Nduta was on Friday arraigned alongside three others over alleged involvement in the suspected stage-managed abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi.
The case also reportedly involves an attempt by some security officers to obstruct Koimburi’s arrest.
Prosecutors are seeking to detain Nduta for 14 days and the three co-accused for 15 days to allow the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to complete investigations.
However, defence lawyers opposed the application, arguing the suspects pose no risk to the ongoing probe and should be released on bail.
A court ruling on their detention is expected at 2:30 p.m.
In a statement released Thursday, the DCI alleged that Nduta spent the night of May 25, 2025, with Koimburi at a bar in Gatundu South—the same night he claimed to have been abducted.
