Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has alleged the discovery of a mass grave in Kericho, claiming it may contain the bodies of young protesters linked to the recent Gen Z-led demonstrations.
Speaking during the opening day on a 5-day tour in Ukambani region on Monday March 30, 2026, Kalonzo called for immediate transparency and accountability from the government over the reported find.
“The other day, bodies of young people were found and we suspect these are Gen Z youths who were killed indiscriminately by the government. Bodies are being discovered in a mass grave in Kericho. As Kenyans, we want to know the truth,” he said.
The claims come amid heightened political tensions following months of nationwide protests largely driven by young people opposing tax increases and broader governance issues.
What began as a youth-led movement has since expanded into a wider push for reforms and accountability.
Kalonzo’s remarks suggest a direct link between the alleged discovery and the state’s response to the protests, which have previously drawn scrutiny from human rights groups over the use of force by security agencies.
Kericho, a region primarily known for tea farming, has not been a major hotspot of the demonstrations, making the reported discovery particularly significant.
By the time of publication, the government had not issued an official response to the specific allegations by the former vice president regarding the mass grave.
