Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe has been ranked the best performing Cabinet Secretary in a fresh survey conducted by KenyaTrack in 2026.
The survey, which was conducted between March 15 and April 10, involved all 290 constituencies of the country, and showed that Kagwe had an 86.5 per cent approval rating.
The results showed strong public confidence in Kagwe’s work, particularly after taking charge of the Agriculture Docket.
Since taking office, Kagwe has pushed several reforms in the agriculture sector, including increased funding of the sector and aligning agriculture with BETA (Bottom Up Economic Transformation).
Some initiatives implemented in his tenure include boosting local wheat production, establishing animal feed reserves, and promoting climate-smart agriculture.
The measures have helped stabilise markets and support farmers facing unpredictable weather.
Efforts aimed at improving the performance of the coffee and tea sectors have also included improved pricing, value addition, and marketing strategies.
Kagwe was ranked above other cabinet secretaries like Rebecca Miano and Geoffrey Ruku.
The survey also highlighted the growing role of agriculture in the country’s economy
