Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi has joined Kenyans in mourning the death of veteran gynecologist Dr. Job Obwaka, describing him as a principled medical professional whose contribution to healthcare and reform efforts will be remembered for generations.
In a statement shared on his official X account, Muturi paid tribute to the late doctor, praising his professionalism, courage and commitment to integrity within the medical profession.
“I join the nation in mourning the passing of Dr Job Obwaka, a distinguished medical practitioner whose contribution to healthcare in our country will not be forgotten,” said Muturi.
The former National Assembly Speaker said Dr. Obwaka remained steadfast in defending professional principles even during difficult moments.
“Dr Obwaka exemplified professionalism, courage, and an unyielding commitment to principle. At a time when many would waver, he stood firm, guided by integrity and a deep sense of duty to the medical profession and to the people of Kenya,” he stated.
Muturi further noted that the late medic’s determination and resilience under pressure reflected the values he stood for throughout his career.
“His resolve, even under immense pressure, is a powerful testament to the values he lived by,” he added.
Beyond his work as a consultant gynecologist, Muturi said Dr. Obwaka also distinguished himself as an advocate for reform and accountability within the healthcare sector.
“Beyond his expertise as a gynaecologist, he was a voice for reform and accountability, leaving behind a legacy defined not just by service, but by conviction,” he said.
On behalf of his family and the Democratic Party of Kenya, Muturi extended condolences to the late doctor’s family, friends, colleagues and the wider medical fraternity.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Muturi concluded.
