Martha Koome announced, “I am therefore pleased to announce that the Judicial Service Commission has nominated Hon. Justice Mohamed Abdulahi Warsame for the appointment to the Supreme Court of Kenya.”

Warsame takes position of the late judge Justice Mohamed Kadhar Ibrahim, who died in December last year following a short illness, just a few days before his terminal leave for mandatory retirement on January 1, 2026.

The JSC advertised the position on January 27, with a applications deadline of February 17, 2026. The JSC shortlisted six applicants: Justice Joseph Kiplagat Sergon, Mohammed Abdulahi Warsame, Joseph Kipchumba Kigen Katwa, Francis Kipruto Tuiyott and former chairperson of IPOA Anne Makori.
