Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Ali Joho (Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs) and Aden Duale (Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry) have urged the Muslim community to unite, actively participate in national affairs, and ensure they acquire national identification cards.

Speaking at the third annual graduation ceremony of the Ibn Abbas Islamic Centre in Mombasa, the two leaders emphasized the importance of civic engagement among Muslims in Kenya. They encouraged the community to support the broad-based government and contribute to national leadership and decision-making processes.

The two CSs stressed that obtaining a national ID is essential for cessing government services, voting, and economic empowerment. They called on young people and those without IDs to take immediate steps to apply for the document.

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir echoed their sentiments, reaffirming the county government’s commitment to ensuring all eligible residents receive identification documents. He announced that the county administration, in collaboration with Ward representatives, would help identify individuals lacking birth certificates and IDs and facilitate the application process.

Nassir also highlighted Mombasa’s rich heritage of faith and knowledge, speaking at the 21st Quran Competition organized by the Muslim Mercy Group. “Mombasa stands as a beacon of faith, knowledge, and unity,” he stated, acknowledging the community’s dedication to Islamic teachings and education.
