Isiolo Residents Get Toll-Free Hotline to Report Crimes and Emergencies
Isiolo County residents can now report crimes or emergencies for free with the newly launched toll-free hotline and a joint command centre set up by the police in partnership with the Regional Pastoralist Peace Link.
The emergency number, 0800 722 180, was unveiled to advance community policing and improve the county’s emergency response.
Speaking during the launch, Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Edwin Kuria said the initiative was expected to narrow the gap between security agencies and the community, thereby ensuring incident reporting and response on time.
“The toll-free line will enable residents to always be in the front line in protecting their communities without any worries about the cost as they can timely report crimes and emergencies,” stated Kuria.
Fadosa Ibrahim Mohamed, a representative from Peace Link, urged residents, particularly women and girls, to utilize the hotline. She stated that gender-based violence survivors could make use of the platform to report the abuse and get immediate help.
The joint command centre will manage the response and monitor the cases reported, and the authorities are optimistic that the move will not only make insecurity minimal but also promote public trust in law enforcement in Isiolo.
