President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto’s flashy new matatu christened Mood, has finally been unveiled.

Thousands of matatu culture enthusiasts thronged the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Friday night to grace Mood’s debut, a lively event that was characterised by prayers, live DJ mixes, a hype man and lots of fun, albeit with skies opening up.

After the KICC event, the youths accompanied the vehicle, reported to cost over KSh 14 million, to Nairobi CBD, where it made its first trip to Embakasi, where it will be plying, with celebrated driver Lenny behind its navigation.

Inside George Ruto’s Mood matatu

The nganya, a street name for a well-designed and customised matatu, is one of a kind. George went out and beyond to customise it.

First, the matatu, instead of the usual 34 seats, has 25 bucket seats to give the passengers the comfy needed during their journeys.

Mood also boasts solar panels, which powers its energy-demanding features like 65-inch TVs, bright LED lighting, and a powerful sound system.

Seemingly built with an entertainment mindset, the vehicle has a DJ booth, where live mixes will be played to entertain passengers during their travels.

With the minibus redesigned to fit three seats per row instead of the usual four, it is very spacious, which allows dancing to the reverberating music from the sound system, believed to cost over KSh 2 million.

Mood also has a unique custom license plate and tail light design that give it a standout finish. It also boasts extraordinary graffiti.
