Harambee Stars are expressing a lot of confidence before their friendly match against West African rivals Equatorial Guinea this evening in Antalya, Turkey. The meeting between the two teams will start at 6pm at the Emirhan Sports Centre, with Senegal being the next opponent for Kenya four days later at the same venue.
The national team coach Benni McCarthy, who has now physically joined the team in Turkey, will most probably be the one to lead Harambee Stars against the West African side from Equatorial Guinea. The latter is sitting at the 99th spot in the FIFA ranking – ten ranks higher than Kenya.
Several new faces will likely be introduced to the Harambee Stars lineup by McCarthy, as he is expected to use the bench players as the first eleven in the encounter.
Some of these players include Gor Mahia’s dynamic left-back Bryton Onyona, Sharrif Musa, Nairobi United defender Kevin Otiende, Spanish-based youth player Aldrine Kibet, and Zamalek’s Baron Ochieng’.
The Stars will be focusing on Senegal, the former African champions, after their match against Equatorial Guinea. Their meeting is scheduled for November 18. These two games will provide the team with the opportunity to be match-fit as they complete their preparations for the upcoming international assignments.
