The government has released KSh850.7 million to 425,348 households under the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) programme.
The payment was announced by CS Hanna Wendot through the State Department for Children Services, which said the funds are part of the Inua Jamii social protection programme.
Each beneficiary household will receive KSh2,000 under the July 2026 payment cycle.
According to the State Department, the money started reaching beneficiaries on Tuesday, September 1, through the contracted Payment Service Provider.
The latest disbursement brings financial support to thousands of households caring for orphans and vulnerable children across the country.
The CT-OVC programme is one of the cash transfer programmes under the government’s Inua Jamii initiative, which provides financial assistance to vulnerable groups.
The State Department said the KSh850,696,000 released will cater for the 425,348 households enrolled in the programme for the July payment.
Beneficiaries are expected to receive the funds through the payment system contracted by the government to handle the transfers.
The latest payment comes as the government continues to use cash transfers as part of its social protection programmes for vulnerable households.
