The government has strengthened the National Police Service by acquiring 591 new vehicles in a move aimed at improving security operations and response capacity across the country.

The new fleet, valued at approximately Sh7 billion, includes double-cab pickups and trucks that will be deployed to various regions to enhance police mobility, visibility, and emergency response. The first batch of vehicles has already been handed over, with the remaining units expected to be delivered in phases.

Officials said the additional vehicles will significantly improve officers’ ability to respond quickly to incidents, protect lives and property, and maintain law and order. The move forms part of ongoing police reforms focused on improving efficiency and service delivery.

The acquisition was made through a partnership involving the government and private sector players under an asset-financing arrangement. Authorities noted that better-equipped police units will contribute to improved public safety and support economic and social stability nationwide.
