Chris Alpha Onyango struck in the first half to earn Gor Mahia a vital Kenya Premier League victory over Kakamega Homeboyz at Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The 21-time champions went into the match under pressure, having failed to win in their previous three outings.
That run began with a heavy 4–1 defeat to APS Bomet, followed by a 1–0 loss to archrivals AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby, and was compounded by a 1–1 draw with Bandari in Mombasa.
Head coach Charles Akonnor faced mounting scrutiny from sections of the fanbase, but Onyango delivered when it mattered, firing home in the 17th minute with a powerful effort that flew past Homeboyz goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe.
