Gor Mahia booked their spot in the FKF Cup final after a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout win over Murang’a Seal, following a pulsating 2-2 draw in regular time.
Murang’a Seal struck early, with Michael Owen giving them a 6th-minute lead. Gor Mahia responded with a halftime substitution, bringing on Bryson Wangai for Ben Stanley—a move that paid off when Wangai headed home Philemon Otieno’s cross in the 57th minute.
Seven minutes later, Alpha Onyango fired Gor ahead with a superb solo effort. However, Murang’a Seal hit back through substitute Wilson Kamau, who capitalized on a long throw-in and a scramble in the box to level the match at 2-2.
Gor nearly won it late on, but Austin Odhiambo’s stoppage-time free-kick was brilliantly saved by Wilson Ngamau, sending the match to penalties.
In the shootout, Gor were clinical. Onyango, Enock Morrison, Gad Mathews, Otieno, and Odhiambo all converted their spot-kicks. Mathews then made the decisive save from Humphrey Obina, the only miss of the shootout.
Odhiambo’s final penalty sealed the win, sending Gor Mahia to their first FKF Cup final since lifting the trophy in 2021. They now await the winner of the other semifinal between Mara Sugar and Nairobi United.
