Gor Mahia is facing the possibility of being summoned by FIFA after reportedly failing to refund Singida Black Stars USD 40,000 (approximately Ksh 5,170,000) for a failed transfer involving defender Rooney Onyango.
The two clubs had reached an agreement last November for the sale of the versatile defender, with Singida making an advance payment.
However, complications arose when the Kenyan international allegedly chose not to complete the move, with sources indicating that Onyango was more interested in exploring opportunities in Europe and Asia.
As a result, Singida was left with no choice but to demand a refund of the transfer fee after the Tanzanian mid-season transfer window closed.
The club sent Gor Mahia a formal request on January 3, but the Kenyan side has yet to return the funds.

Letter from Singida Black Stars.
In response, Singida Black Stars has now issued a warning to Gor Mahia, threatening to escalate the issue to FIFA if the amount is not refunded within two weeks.
“Our Club wrote to your Club on 3.1.2025 requesting the refund of the USD 40,000, as the transfer did not materialize due to your fault,” Singida said in a letter.
“It is unfortunate that to date we have not received any response or the refund. Therefore, your club is given 14 days to settle the outstanding balance of USD 40,000. Failure to do so will compel our club to refer the matter to FIFA for breach of our agreement,” the letter added.
