President William Ruto has announced that construction of the Gikoe ESP Market in Murang’a County is nearing completion, marking a major milestone in the government’s efforts to support small-scale traders and local agribusiness.
According to the President, over 94% of the construction work on the modern two-storey facility has been completed.
Once operational, the market will accommodate 204 traders, providing a clean, secure, and structured environment for commerce.
“The Gikoe ESP Market will uplift livelihoods and strengthen local revenue streams, particularly for those engaged in agribusiness and informal trade,” said President Ruto in a statement.
The project is part of the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), aimed at reviving grassroots economic activity by supporting small traders, farmers, and local enterprises.
