The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing equity and inclusion across government operations by reintroducing the gender-mainstreaming indicator into performance contracting guidelines.

Speaking during the launch of the National Gender and Equality Commission strategic plan 2025- 2029 in Nairobi Cheptumo, emphasized that Ministries, Departments, and Agencies should not only be evaluated by their outputs and financial expenditures but by the extent to which their programs uphold dignity and promote inclusivity for all.

The Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Children Services Hanna Wendot Cheptumo highlighted the importance of safeguarding the rights and welfare of the most vulnerable populations.She however cited minimal budgetary allocations as a challenge in achieving its agenda.

Other key players called for concerted efforts at all levels of government in amplifying the voices of marginalized populations, and promoting systemic change.

The strategic launch culminated into the Usawa Award, to celebrate agencies and community members who have consistently demonstrated progress in integrating gender, social inclusion, and equity across various spheres of life.
