American Business Magnate Bill Gates

American business magnate Bill Gates has sounded an alarm on global health preparedness, cautioning the world risks of repeating the mistakes of the COVID-19 era if governments fail to act decisively. Speaking in an interview, Gates said, “The next pandemic could be far more severe than COVID; hopefully, we’ll get our acts together before then.”

Bill Gates, focuses on global health, education and reducing poverty under the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, stressing scientific innovation offers hope, to overcome threats.

His remarks come a time when international health agencies are grappling with the new outbreaks, the Hantavirus, that claimed three lives on a Dutch cruise ship. World Health Organisation (WHO) has stressed the outbreak is contained.

Gates has expressed concern over child mortality trends, stating deaths of children under five rise from 4.6 million in 2024 to 4.8 million in 2025. He attributed this to the weakness exposed in global solidarity, from vaccine inequality to fragile supply chains.
