Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday sensationally claimed he had been removed from a WhatsApp group, where President William Ruto’s diary was managed.

He claimed that since his removal, he has been in the dark about President Ruto’s schedule, which has occasioned him to miss some of the president’s events.

However, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi, has set the record straight.

Itumbi said that the diary group was permanently deleted over security concerns.

"The group was permanently deleted due to the highly classified documents being shared in WhatsApp groups. A security decision was also made that no other group would be formed on the diary," said Itumbi.

The digital strategist said that even President Ruto was removed from the group before Gachagua, and the second in command knew about it, but he failed to clarify the same during his interview on Citizen TV.
