Hours ago, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s petition seeking to stop the scheduled public participation in his impeachment motion was rejected by the court.
However, the deputy president is seemingly not giving up. An activist, Fredrick Bikeri, has filed a second case seeking to halt the sessions slated for Friday, October 4.
In the case, Bikeri argues that the public participation forums should be held in all 1,450 wards countrywide and not at the county level as planned.
"That for such an important and monumental motion, the public participation process should be more thorough and this can only be achieved if the process is done in each of the 1,450 electoral wards in Kenya, which are the smallest administrative units," reads the court papers seen by TUKIO.co.ke.
Bikeri argues that conducting public participation on a county level will leave many Kenyans out of the process.
As a result, he demanded the planned public participation forums be halted until the court determines the matter.
