The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made an emotional plea for respect towards the memory of his late brother, urging the public to stop casting unnecessary aspersions on his family and legacy.
He expressed frustration over recent media reports linking his family’s businesses to misconduct, calling them unfounded and damaging to the future of his children.
The Deputy President emphasized that many of the companies mentioned, such as Vis Group Limited and By-of-It Ventures Limited, are legitimate enterprises founded by his children and other family members well before he entered office.
These businesses, he clarified, have either not yet begun operations or have remained dormant for years.
Rigathi noted that these companies have not engaged in government transactions or committed any wrongdoing.
He passionately defended his children, stating that the public attacks on their businesses are unfair and an attempt to destroy their future simply because of their connection to him.
“These are young people; children Why do you want to destroy their future? By putting their names in the press because you want to destroy their father,” said Gachagua.
He added that his family’s hard work and investments, spanning over decades, should not be criminalized.
The Deputy President urged critics to focus on facts rather than speculation, stating, "Even if you want to destroy me, why target the innocent ambitions of my children?"
