Hours after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced that the 2025 placement results were out, many students are still in the dark.
The agency confirmed on social media that applicants could now access their results, but several students say that the KUCCPS portal hasn’t updated their status. Instead, what they’ve received is a vague message stating:
"You have secured a provisional placement in one of the courses you selected. Details of the course and the university where you have been placed will be communicated at a later date. Please do not attempt to apply again."
The response didn’t sit well with many, who flooded KUCCPS’ official X (formerly Twitter) account with complaints.
Some claimed they hadn’t even received the SMS notifications the agency said were sent out.
As of Monday afternoon, there was still no clear explanation from KUCCPS about when students would get the full breakdown of their placement, which course they’ve been admitted to and in which institution.
The confusion comes just after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba officially released the results, stating that out of 244,563 candidates who qualified for degree courses, 201,695 had applied for placement. KUCCPS said it had placed 310,502 students in various programs across both universities and colleges.
But while the statistics were impressive, the delivery didn’t match expectations, especially for students eagerly waiting to know their fate.
This isn’t the first time a major education portal has buckled under pressure. Earlier this year, the KNEC website crashed when KCSE results were released, forcing many candidates to wait hours, sometimes days, before accessing their scores.
