A Banking and Economic Crimes Directorate and Nakuru Police Station raid led to the arrest of persons in question in Pangani neighborhood of Nakuru Town who have been involved in the fraud through the internet.

During tghe raid, officers confiscated 25 smartphones, 16 sets of SIM card slots, and 10 SIM cards that have been alleged to have played a role in the criminal activities.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects created fake websites purporting to offer online bus ticketing services. The websites, identified as Zain Coach, Harmain Coach and Habesh Coach, allegedly lured travellers seeking to purchase bus tickets online.

Victims who made payments through these platforms reportedly lost their money without receiving the promised services.

14 suspects are currently at police custody awaiting arraignment. The cell phones, SIMs etc, and other materials have served as evidence in further investigations into the cybercriminal network.
