The Football Kenya Federation (FKF), through its National Referees Committee, has concluded a performance review of selected match officials following recent SportPesa League fixtures.

The review was conducted during a virtual meeting of the FKF Instructors Technical Group held on 10 December 2025.

It involved a detailed analysis of match footage, officials’ reports, and submitted explanations, in line with FKF’s commitment to maintaining high standards of officiating and integrity.

Following the review, the Committee assessed the performance of FIFA Referee Erick Njogu in Match No. 56 (Kariobangi Sharks vs Shabana FC) and Match No. 94 (Nairobi United vs Mathare United).

Several key decisions were found to be inconsistent with the standards expected at his level of officiating.

As a corrective and developmental measure, Njogu will be assigned to officiate National Super League (NSL) matches for the next five (5) rounds.

His performance during this period will be closely monitored, with evaluation reports submitted to determine his readiness for reinstatement to the Premier League panel.

The Committee also reviewed the performance of Assistant Referee Fredrick Kajongo in Match No. 90 (Kenya Police vs Mathare United).

An incorrect offside decision was identified, and he has consequently been issued with a formal written warning.

His future assignments will be closely monitored, with an expectation of improved decision-making.

FKF reiterates that these actions form part of its ongoing referee development framework, aimed at promoting accountability, consistency, and excellence in match officiating.
