Everton Clash Against Liverpool Postponed Due to Storm Darragh

The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool, scheduled for this evening, has been postponed due to Storm Darragh.

Everton issued a statement just hours before kick-off, announcing the postponement due to “adverse weather conditions” as strong winds and heavy rain battered the UK.

Winds of up to 90mph have been sweeping across the region, with Liverpool under an “amber severe wind warning” that will last until early Sunday morning.

What was set to be the final Premier League Merseyside derby at Goodison Park will now be rescheduled for a later date.

The statement from Everton read:

“Everton’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool, scheduled for 12:30pm (GMT) today, Saturday 7 December, has been postponed.

Following a Safety Advisory Group meeting at Goodison Park, attended by officials from both clubs, Merseyside Police, and Liverpool City Council, it was decided that, due to the risk posed by strong wind gusts and the amber severe wind warning in place until 6am Sunday, the fixture should be postponed for safety reasons.

Storm Darragh that has hit UK and Ireland.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank supporters for their understanding. While we acknowledge this is deeply disappointing for fans, the safety of all individuals – fans, staff, and players – remains our top priority.

“Details regarding the rescheduled fixture will be provided in due course. All tickets purchased for the original match will remain valid for the rearranged date.”
