The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is mourning the death of Silas Cheboi, who served as the authority’s Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement.
EPRA announced Cheboi’s death on Thursday, August 13, describing his passing as a major loss to the organisation and his colleagues.
In a statement, the regulator said Cheboi’s death had left the authority deeply saddened.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mr Silas Cheboi, Assistant Director, Surveillance & Enforcement at the Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA),” the authority stated.
EPRA said Cheboi’s death was not only a loss to the organisation but also to the colleagues and other people who had worked with him during his time at the authority.
“His death marks a great loss for the Authority, his colleagues and everybody who had an opportunity to work with him,” said EPRA.
Cheboi was attached to the Surveillance and Enforcement department, whose mandate is the undertaking of activities involving compliance and enforcement in the energy and petroleum sectors.
No further information regarding the cause of Cheboi’s death was provided by the Authority in its statement.
EPRA is expected to issue further information on arrangements to honour and remember Cheboi as colleagues and those who worked with him come to terms with his death.
