Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Performance and Delivery Management in the Executive Office of the President, has joined the nation in mourning the passing of veteran radio presenter Edward Carey Kwach.
Kwach, a beloved media figure and current host at Spice FM, passed away on Monday night while receiving treatment for meningitis.
His family confirmed his death through a statement released by spokesperson Michael Okwiri, noting that he had been under medical care for several weeks and had recently appealed for blood donations—an appeal that drew overwhelming support from fans and fellow media professionals.
In a heartfelt message shared on his social media platforms, Owalo expressed deep sorrow at the loss of a broadcasting icon.
“It is with profound sorrow that I received the news of the passing of veteran radio host Edward Carey Kwach. With a distinguished career in radio spanning several decades, Kwach was beloved by many and served as an inspiration to countless voices who followed in his footsteps,” Owalo wrote.
He added: “My deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues in the media fraternity. May his trailblazing legacy continue to inspire others to carve out their own unique paths in radio.”
Kwach was a household name in Kenya’s radio scene for over two decades, celebrated for his charismatic voice, sharp wit, and unmatched love for music.
He rose to prominence in the early 2000s on Capital FM and later became a prominent figure at Homeboyz Radio.
Until his passing, he was a presenter at Spice FM, part of the Standard Group Media.
