The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to pursue a series of high-profile corruption, fraud and public land recovery cases in courts across Kenya during the week of October 19–23, 2026, with several disputes involving hundreds of millions of shillings in public funds.

The cases listed in the commission’s court schedule include proceedings involving former Murang’a Governor Francis Mwangi wa Iria, a Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) supply chain manager facing an unexplained wealth recovery suit, and alleged irregular payments linked to government procurement contracts.

The schedule also highlights efforts to recover public funds allegedly lost through fraudulent transactions, alongside legal proceedings seeking to reclaim public land reportedly allocated unlawfully.

Among the notable cases is the prosecution of former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria and eight others over an alleged Sh351.1 million media consultancy contract awarded to Top Image Media Consultants Limited. The matter is scheduled for a hearing at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on October 23.

The accused face charges including conspiracy to commit corruption, conflict of interest and money laundering. The proceedings will focus on allegations surrounding the contract, with the court expected to consider the evidence presented by the parties.

Another significant matter involves Peter Maina Njehia, a senior supply chain manager at KETRACO, against whom the commission is pursuing a suit seeking to recover Sh216 million in allegedly unexplained wealth. The case is scheduled for a hearing at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on October 22.

The commission is also scheduled to receive a judgment in the case involving Joel Kaunda Ontoya, a former District Education Officer in Samburu East, on October 22. Ontoya faces charges of deceiving a principal and abuse of office in connection with the alleged embezzlement of Sh500,000 in public funds between 2015 and 2017.

EACC Pursues Sh800 Million Medical Tender Dispute

Public procurement remains another major focus of the commission’s court calendar, with a case involving Estama Investments Limited and 13 others scheduled for hearings on October 21 and 22.

The suit seeks the recovery of Sh800 million allegedly paid through an overvalued tender for the supply of 100 portable medical clinics awarded by the Ministry of Health.

The proceedings form part of the commission’s efforts to recover public funds allegedly lost through irregular procurement transactions. The court will determine the issues raised in the case based on the evidence and arguments presented.

On October 19, the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court is scheduled to hear a recovery suit involving Steven Kisonzo Mulwa and others over Sh450 million allegedly acquired fraudulently from the State Department for Correctional Services.

The money is linked to payments for food and rations that were allegedly not delivered, according to the case summary provided in the commission’s schedule.

Another recovery case concerns Sh133.7 million allegedly paid to Antco Investment Limited in circumstances involving a conflict of interest linked to an employee of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

The matter is listed for a hearing on October 19 at the Milimani court, as the commission seeks to recover the funds in question.

The EACC is also pursuing a case involving Jemishly Construction Limited and seven others over the alleged embezzlement of Sh79 million from Nairobi City County. The recovery suit is scheduled for proceedings on October 19, 21 and 22.

Public Land Recovery Cases Across Several Courts

Beyond corruption and financial recovery proceedings, the commission is pursuing cases involving public land allegedly allocated illegally, including property reserved for government institutions and public services.

In Mombasa, the Environment and Land Court is scheduled to deliver a ruling on October 22 in a case involving Kensko Agro Produce Limited and four others over land on Mombasa Island reserved for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

The dispute concerns allegations that the public property was illegally allocated, with the ruling expected to address issues raised in the proceedings.

In Limuru, a hearing is scheduled for October 19 at the Thika Environment and Land Court in a case seeking to recover 1.8641 hectares of land identified as Limuru/Township/191–206.

The property is reportedly reserved for government housing, and the proceedings are aimed at determining the claims surrounding its ownership and recovery.

The commission is also scheduled to pursue a separate case at the Milimani Environment and Land Court on October 21 concerning the recovery of public land identified as Land Reference Number 25433, which is alleged to have been illegally allocated.

Former Water Company Employee Among Those Facing Court Proceedings

Other matters on the schedule include a case involving Judy Wairimu Mwangi, a former employee of Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC).

Mwangi is scheduled to appear in proceedings on October 19 and 21 over allegations involving the fraudulent acquisition of Sh13.2 million, forgery of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate to secure employment, and deceiving a principal.

In Eldoret, Noah Kipkemboi Rotich is scheduled to appear before the Eldoret Law Courts on October 21 over allegations of demanding a bribe to facilitate the subdivision of group land.

The case forms part of the commission’s broader enforcement efforts targeting alleged bribery and abuse of public office.
