Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reiterated the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s pledge to ensure equitable development across all regions of the country, saying that no community will be left behind in the government’s transformation agenda.

Speaking during an economic empowerment programme in Masinga Constituency, Machakos County, the Deputy President affirmed that the administration is implementing a deliberate strategy to uplift the socio-economic wellbeing of all Kenyans by investing in critical infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

Kindiki highlighted the ongoing Last Mile Connectivity Programme, which is being rolled out across all 290 constituencies to boost access to electricity.

In Machakos County alone, Sh1.4 billion has been allocated to connect 6,500 new households. In Masinga Constituency specifically, the government will spend Sh116 million to bring power to 500 additional homes.

He further underscored the progress of the Market Infrastructure Programme, which is transforming trading spaces for farmers and small-scale traders.

According to the Deputy President, 250 out of the targeted 400 modern and ESP markets are in various stages of completion nationwide.

In Machakos County, 15 new markets are set to be constructed, including the Sh450 million mega Machakos Town Market and the Sh350 million Matuu Market.

“These are not just markets. They are economic hubs,” Kindiki said, noting that the facilities will feature social halls, mothers’ rooms, boardrooms, spacious stalls, and fully equipped ICT hubs with at least 100 computers and free internet access to support e-commerce and digital jobs for young people.

Kindiki made the remarks while addressing women’s groups and SACCOs under the Masinga Constituency Economic Empowerment Programme. He was joined by MPs Joshua Mwalyo (Masinga), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Caleb Mule (Machakos Town), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), Rachael Nyamai (Kitui South), Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda, Members of the Machakos County Assembly, and other grassroots leaders.

The Deputy President said the Kenya Kwanza Government remains focused on delivering tangible results that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens, and called for continued collaboration between national and local leaders to sustain the momentum of development.
