President William Ruto held an exclusive meeting on Wednesday with elected members of Parliament from Nyeri County at State House Nairobi.
Notably absent from the meeting was Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua , Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga and women representative Njeri Maina who also hails from Nyeri County, raising questions about their absence.
During the meeting, President Ruto and the Nyeri MPs discussed various regional issues and government plans aimed at enhancing infrastructure and services in the county.

The agenda covered several key areas, including the improvement of roads, the development of new stadia, the establishment of fresh produce markets, and the enhancement of water programs across Nyeri.
One of the major announcements from the meeting was the planned upgrade of Othaya’s Mwai Kibaki Hospital, currently an annex of Kenyatta National Hospital.
President Ruto revealed that the hospital will be gazetted as a parastatal, complete with its own board and an independent budget.
“This elevation will ensure the health facility is fully equipped to play its rightful role in the provision of Universal Health Coverage, which is set to begin next month,” President Ruto stated. The move is expected to significantly boost the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare services to the residents of Nyeri County.
