Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Dennis Itumbi has dismissed a perception that Kithure Kindiki is a lame-duck deputy president.

Itumbi was reacting to a publication by The Standard newspaper on Sunday, February 23, which sensationally described Kindiki as a ‘Mr Yes Sir DP’ who doesn’t question his boss President William Ruto’s directives.

However, the digital strategist said the DP plays a very important role in shaping policy and at times differs with President Ruto during internal meetings.

As a sign of good leadership, Itumbi said Kindiki will never differ or criticise the president in public, telling off those thinking he ought to do it.

He questioned the rationale of the president and his deputy holding conflicting positions in public.

"Kithure Kindiki plays a vital role in shaping policy—offering input, critique, and even differing with President William Ruto in internal meetings. I've seen it firsthand. But in public? Unwavering cohesion. Do you want them to hold conflicting positions in public? Mtangoja sana," said Itumbi.
