Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is scheduled to tour Marsabit and Isiolo counties on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, as part of the ongoing Jukwaa La Usalama security engagement forums aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery across the country.

The visits mark the 12th and 13th stops in the nationwide initiative, which seeks to assess and strengthen security mechanisms, address regional concerns, and improve coordination between national and local government structures.

Murkomen’s latest fact-finding mission follows recent engagements in Meru, Tharaka Nithi, and Embu counties, where critical issues such as the proliferation of illicit brews, counterfeit and second-generation alcohol, land disputes, and border tensions were identified as pressing concerns.

In Marsabit and Isiolo, the Cabinet Secretary is expected to focus on persistent security challenges, including banditry, cattle rustling, land conflicts, and border security—issues that have long hindered stability and development in the region.

The tour will also include a review of the delivery of essential government services, including civil registration and other functions under the National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs).

CS Murkomen will engage key stakeholders during the visit, including regional and county security committees, local political leaders, and members of the public, to ensure community concerns are incorporated into policy and operational reforms.

Since launching the Jukwaa La Usalama forums, the Interior CS has already visited Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Embu, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi. The forums aim to shape future policy decisions and improve efficiency within NGAOs and the Kenya Police Service.

The Ministry emphasizes that such grassroots engagements are critical to building sustainable peace, responsive service delivery, and effective administration across Kenya’s diverse regions.
