Coastal leaders have endorsed Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho as their preferred presidential candidate for the 2032 presidential elections.

The endorsement occurred during Joho’s development tour of Rabai Sub-County, Kilifi County, where leaders emphasized his political influence and financial capacity to run a competitive campaign.

The delegation included Rabai MP Kenga Mupe, Jomvu MP Badi Twalib, Kisauni MP Rashid Benzimba, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and Mombasa County Assembly Speaker Ahurub Khatri.

Mupe declared:

“We will do everything to ensure Joho succeeds President William Ruto in 2032.” Benzimba stressed the need for coastal unity, stating: “Every region is strategizing for power – we must speak as one bloc to avoid being sidelined.”

His sentiments were echoed by Benzimba, who said that each region was strategising on how to take power in 2032 and that the coastal region had confidence in Joho.

“Every region is positioning itself for the big seat, and we must not be left behind. Going forward, we must talk in one voice,” he said.

Mboko highlighted Joho’s mentorship of local politicians and his role in fostering regional political cohesion, while Twalib emphasized an end to “blindly following external leaders.”

Khatri linked educational advancement to future political influence, urging parents to prioritise schooling.
