Popular comedian Crazy Kennar has revealed why his hotel business closed down months after launching it. Kennar took the blame for his poor planning and need to cut cost expenses as his main reason behind closing the hotel.
Kennar narrated that he chose to employ his friends instead of professionals since he was trying to minimize costs and was only starting out. During an interview with Oga Obinna he shared,
“I used to have a restaurant back in the day and it is one of the funniest stories I have ever. You know, when I was hiring people for the place… you know when you start a business you assume it is easy. You tell yourself, ‘We’ll open today, market tomorrow and the profits will start streaming in,’
He added, “We randomly called people we know at the time and we were like, ‘wewe kuja ufanye kazi.’ I remember we called one friend to be the delivery guy and he didn’t even know how to ride a motorcycle dude was just wobbling around and then fell into a ditch hadi nduthi ikajikunja,”
Recounting another odd incident, Kennar narrated how employing his friends contributed to him closing his hotel down. He shared, “I called another friend to come be the waiter… he used to talk too much. Always somewhere storytelling, he wouldn’t even notice when there was a customer in the restaurant.
Waiter sometimes alikuwa anajisahau hadi unapata yeye ndiye customer anakula buffet, (The waiter would at times get too comfortable and you’d find they’d transformed themselves into the client and are feasting on a whole buffet,)”
Kennar revealed that he used to eat his stock but would pay since he thought it was a way to expanding his hotel business not knowing what he was doing was wrong.
