Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo, representing Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. FCPA John Mbadi, today hosted leaders of the nation at the 28th IBEC session in Karen. It was conducted under chairmanship from Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
The meeting, held at the DP’s official residence, brought together national and county government leaders to discuss how to utilize public funds more effectively, get funds in time by the counties, and provide improved services for Kenyans.
Dr. Kiptoo provided key highlights, including the Budget Review and Outlook Paper (BROP) and the position of county disbursements for the 2025/26 financial year. He also informed the Council on the County Governments Additional Allocations Act.
The majority of the discourses entailed the eradication of wasteful spending, completing current projects before starting new projects, and promoting ease for the counties to cooperate with private investors for development projects.
Dr. Kiptoo also covered various reforms in the works for enhancing the manner in which the government manages its finances.
Some of them include the automation of pension systems, the use of e-procurement across the country, payroll consolidation, and the shift towards more sophisticated budgetary methods.
He emphasized that these changes are designed to make public funds work better for ordinary Kenyans by supporting job creation, boosting local industries, and making it easier for counties to provide quality services like health, roads, and water.
“We’re making these changes not just for numbers, but to change lives,” Dr. Kiptoo said. “When money is used well, it means better hospitals, more jobs, and stronger communities.”
