A section of Catholic faithful across the country gathered to commemorate Good Friday through a solemn Way of the Cross procession, reflecting on the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, a traditional act of Christian.
The believers walked several kilometres in a prayerful journey, dedicating the day to prayers for peace and unity among the country’s political leaders.
The march was a part of the worldwide Catholic celebration of Good Friday, which is one of the most important days in the Christian calendar.
However, they interpreted the most significant part of the observance as the time of writing the priest’s last five minutes before his death holding the cross and walking to Calvary.
To this day the religious devotion has continued to keep the Catholic spirit alive during the 40 days of Lent season, renewing the engagement to the resurrection of Jesus after death and the survival of the soul, real highlighting the importance of Good Friday as the day of Jesus’s passion and death among the Christians.
Participants described the season since Ash Wednesday as a period of deep prayer and personal conversion, calling for peace within the nation and within themselves as they seek God’s forgiveness.
